Privacy notice

Last updated September 9, 2026

chōbo is a private workspace for notes, tasks, and ongoing work. This notice explains what information chōbo handles during its beta and the choices available to testers.

Information chōbo handles

chōbo may process the following information when you use the service:

  • Account information, including your email address and authentication identifiers.
  • Workspace content, including cards, notes, tasks, projects, folders, tags, subtasks, and updates.
  • Files and links you choose to attach to a card.
  • Requests and selected workspace context you choose to send through chōbo's AI features.
  • Limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the beta.

How information is used

Information is used to provide and synchronize your workspace across the web and iOS apps, authenticate your account, store content you create, run features you request, protect the service, and diagnose problems. chōbo does not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

AI features

When you use an AI feature, chōbo sends only the request and relevant content needed to answer it to the configured AI service provider. chōbo does not send your entire workspace by default. Proposed changes in the app require your approval before they are applied. When SMS capture becomes available, a separate, explicit enrollment permission will allow clear texts from your verified number to create new cards automatically. Unclear requests remain for review.

Service providers

chōbo relies on service providers to operate the beta, including Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage, and AI providers when you request an AI feature. TestFlight and Apple may also process testing, diagnostic, and device information under Apple's own terms. These providers process information to perform services for chōbo or you.

Storage, security, and retention

chōbo uses access controls intended to keep each workspace private. Information is retained while your beta account is active and as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may delete individual content using available chōbo controls. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information, contact support@chobo.io. You can also delete your account in account settings.

Optional text capture

Text capture is in preparation. If you enroll when setup is available, chōbo records your phone number, timezone, consent wording and version, verification status, and consent withdrawal. Verification codes are checked by Twilio and are not stored by chōbo. Twilio processes phone numbers and verification requests to confirm ownership. When capture is active, Twilio also handles messages and delivery status; relevant message content and limited workspace context go to the configured AI provider to prepare cards. Mobile information and SMS consent are not sold or shared with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. Providers process information needed for the service.

Unlinking withdraws your enrollment permission; it does not delete existing cards. Enrollment records are removed when you delete your account. Limited verification counters help prevent abuse and do not include message text or verification codes. See the Messaging Terms for enrollment, STOP, and HELP details.

Beta changes

chōbo is still in testing. This notice may be updated as features and service providers change. The date above will be revised when material updates are made.
